March Break Ideas 2019: How To Get The Most Out Of Your Week Off

As the cold, snowy, and icy winter continues as we head into the third month of the calendar year, good news is just around the corner.

March Break is coming!

For some that may mean a vacation someplace warm and sandy and for others it could mean relaxing around town without the worries of your busy everyday life. Well, at least for a week, that is!

If you don't have any concrete plans for the Break yet, don't worry! We have put together a list of ideas that you and your family can spend your week off enjoying.

Take a quick read and see if any of them could be something you might pencil into your calendar!

1. Camps

A March Break To-Do list isn't complete without Camps.

The week-long hiatus is a great time for parents to send their kids to all kinds of camps while they're out of school. From science to technology to sports, there are plenty of themed camps that are sure to keep you or your child entertained. Plus, a lot of them are actually really educational, so it's a win-win!

Here's a list of a variety of camps around the Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge areas: https://www.todocanada.ca/march-break-activities-kitchener-cambridge-waterloo/

2. Quick Getaway

Take a couple of days off to escape reality and recharge your internal batteries!

We are lucky to be located in an area where there are several great "escapes" within a few hours' drive. For example, you can hit the slopes and walk around the beautiful village at Blue Mountain or take a drive down the QEW to Niagara Falls for a quick getaway.

If you're thinking of spending a few days away from the grind, check out this Ontario Resorts Directory page, where you can search dozens of resorts and get some ideas!

3. Attend Bugfeast 2019

Yes, you read that right: Bugfeast! If you've ever wondered what crickets or ants tasted like, this is your chance.

The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory's annual Bugfeast is back for March Break 2019. Beginning on Saturday March 9, you can head over to the Conservatory and try 3 different types of bug food samples.

4. Re-Decorate Your Home

If you have any time off with your kids over the March Break, try reorganizing and redecorating your home with your children. This can be a fun way to spend some quality family time and allow your children to have some input on where things go!

5. Take A Field Trip

Spend a day and getaway either on your own or with your family for a day of fun!

With Toronto being just an hour away from the Guelph, K-W and Cambridge areas, you could have an endless list of activities to partake in for a fun-day.

For example, if you're into science, try a visit to the Ontario Science Centre. Or, if you're into seeing and learning about different kinds of animals, the Ripley's Aquarium might be a great idea!

Try thinking about what you and your family love to do and come up with something fun that will create memories for a lifetime.

6. Catch Up On Movies, TV Shows, & Books

Life can get busy sometimes. That means you're likely missing out on some quality movies, TV shows and books that you otherwise might be watching/reading!

Sit back, relax, and find some "me time" for yourself!
