Holiday Events to Attend That Will Get You In the Holiday Spirit (November 2018)
It's difficult to believe that we are already in the 11th month of 2018. It's even harder to believe that the Christmas holidays are next month!
The holidays are a time of year that can bring mixed emotions as it means something different to each individual. However, one very common emotion that seems to visit the majority of people around this particular holiday is stress!
Think about it:
Shopping for the perfect gift. Cooking up your famous meal to bring to the family gathering. Finding the courage to enter a mall at some of the busiest times while everyone scrambles for those last-minute gifts.
Luckily, we've got you covered to keep things light and to get you excited for winter!
We've put together a list of events throughout November that will get you in the mood for the winter festivities.
November Events in Guelph
Guelph Santa Claus Parade
Guelph's annual Santa Claus Parade is back for 2018! On November 18 at 1:00 PM, join thousands of fellow Guelphites for the festive celebration in Downtown Guelph.
The parade includes music, dancing, costumes, and several community-sponsored floats that are decorated for Christmas.
A perfect family outing, the annual Santa Claus Parade is a can't-miss event.
Christmas Joy Home Tour
Before you enjoy an afternoon of fun at the parade, why not get in the festive mood by attending the Christmas Joy Home Tour?
On November 16 from 5:00-9:00 PM and November 17 from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM, visitors will embark on a self-guided tour of various homes throughout Guelph that have been decorated professionally by local businesses. It is the 14th year that the Tour will be done.
What better way to get yourself ready for the holidays than with warm-feeling, beautifully-decorated homes? Tickets for the 2018 event are currently being sold.
Events in Cambridge
Cambridge Santa Claus Parade
The Santa Claus Parade is back for another year in Cambridge on November 17!
Starting at 6:00 PM, those in attendance will witness floats, dancing, elves, and of course - Santa Claus himself! The parade will take place on Hespeler Road and prizes will be awarded to several participants of the parade, including for Best Overall Entry and Best Performing Band.
If you are bringing children, don't forget to bring their letter for Santa! Canada Post will be in attendance and collecting any letters your child wishes to write to Saint Nicholas.
Music & Lights in the Village
The Festival of Events is a series of just that - festival events - throughout Cambridge in November and December. The first installment is taking place on November 23 at 6:15 PM in Hespeler Village.
The Music & Lights event will include play (Jack & Jill's North Pole Adventure), a concert full of Christmas carols, and of course, lights.
Perfect for the entire family!
Events in Kitchener-Waterloo
Kitchener Santa Claus Parade
How are we supposed to get in the festive spirit without a Santa Claus Parade? If you're in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, this is for you!
The parade will take place on November 17 at 10:30 AM and will go on for 1.5 hours. The parade, which has been run by the Lion's Club of Kitchener for the past 14 years, takes place in the city's downtown area (see the planned route here).
Festive floats, bagpipes, and old-fashioned fire trucks are just a few of the exciting sights and sounds you can experience for free on this day.
Gift of Lights at Bingeman's
In the summer, Bingeman's is a wild water experience and great way to cool down on a hot day. In the winter, it turns into a spectacular showing of lights that is a must-see if you live in K-W.
Starting November November 16 and running through to the New Year, the Gift of Lights display is known as the "largest drive-thru holiday light display in Southwestern Ontario."
You will need to pay an admission to enter, but the costs are reasonable. Nevertheless, the sights are worth it!
