8 Productive Things To Do In Your Own Apartment

With all of the cold weather and snow that we have been getting in the Guelph, Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo areas this winter, many of us find it easier to cozy up inside rather than brave Mother Nature if we don't have to.

But just because you're cuddled up in your apartment doesn't mean that you can't make the most of it!

Just in time for what is looking like a snowier and much colder winter than anticipated, here are 8 productive things to do in your own apartment.

1. Clean your space

This one might sound obvious, but there's no better time to declutter and organize your abode when it's freezing outside and there's no reason to leave the warmth of your home. Organizing your kitchen, desk, dressers and closets are a great place to start.

2. Educate yourself

If you're someone who likes to read, picking up a book to learn some new knowledge about a topic of interest is a productive thing to do. If you're not into books, checking out a new documentary or YouTube video that will educate yourself on a specific topic is an alternative. The key: do something where you will have learned something new by the end of it.

3. Try a home workout

Whether you're short on time or stuck inside, a home workout has many benefits. It's free and provides plenty of mental and physical benefits. Here are some home workout ideas you can do with minimal space.

4. Try something new

Take a new hobby for a test drive! What have you always wanted to try but seemingly haven't had the time for? Something like yoga, meditation, art, creating a video, trying a new game, or listening to a new podcast can all be new things to try. Who knows, you may just pick up a new hobby! If you're looking for something new to pick up, check out this list of hobby ideas!

5. Clean up your phone (and email)

Clearing out pictures, apps, files, and contacts on your phone can declutter some of the things you never use (and also speed up your phone in the process). SImilarly, cleaning out your email by deleting old messages and updating your contact list can save you time and future headaches.

6. Create a list of goals

If you don't have one yet, create a list of short and long-term goals that you'd like to accomplish for yourself. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated and on track with the things you wish to achieve. If you already have a list, review it and make any changes to it you feel are necessary. 7. Review your financials

Do an audit of your own bank account. What are you spending your money on? Is it something you need to have, or is it something that you can eliminate in order to save money? This is a great way to identify trends that are hurting your wallet that you could do without!

8. Rearrange your furniture

Try keeping things fresh by moving around furniture in your home. Move your TV across the room. Put your couch against the wall instead of in the middle of the room. Move a bookshelf. The beauty of this is that you can try something new and add a spark to your space!
